Chicago Engagement by Bloomington/Normal Photographer Kelly Lyle
When we traveled to Chicago for an engagement session with Lynn and Rich, we were struck by what appeared to be a burning building! As it turns out we were not seeing smoke from a burning building, but fog rolling in from Lake Michigan. I had never before experienced such a strange lake effect! We were hoping to get images on the Chicago’s North Beach to take in a classic Chicago skyline, but the fog covered the buildings. Still, the fog coming in from the lake made a dramatic effect, so we decided to use it in some of our images. Lynn and Rich told me they liked romantic walks along the beach, so we looked for a place with very little population and began playing. It was a lot of fun coaching Lynn and Rich! Truthfully, the two of them are so much in love it took very little coaching for them to fall into romantic poses. We could tell as we were working with them how much they enjoyed each other’s company. Strolling along the beach created ample opportunity for the two of them to snuggle, cuddle, and show affection.
Rich had also requested images taken at Buckingham Fountain, but before we headed there we stopped at Lincoln Park to take advantage of some outdoor flowers and greenery. We also fulfilled an idea I have had for sometime – to photograph a couple out celebrating their engagement at one of their favorite restaurants. So after the garden and before the fountain, Rich and Lynn made a quick change and dined at Roy’s Pacific Rim. What a fantastic opportunity for pictures – not to mention, the food was absolutely delicious! After dinner we boarded a taxi and were off to Buckingham Fountain. It was a very full evening, but we took advantage of every second and captured some gorgeous pictures!
